Under its waters, and despite the protests of the inhabitants at the end of the dictatorship, the remains of the community village of Vilarinho da Furna remain, which can be seen when the electricity company discharges considerable amounts of water. The clear waters of this reservoir also serve as a canvas for the natural and exuberant beauty of the surrounding Gerês and Amarela mountain ranges, which record the changing landscape throughout the year.
