In the walks proposed by "Walking" we only advise that everyone uses the means to enjoy the activity in question to the full, in complete comfort and safety.
However, because we feel we should do so, here is just an indicative and non-exhaustive list of some of the equipment you should consider when signing up for a "Caminhando" activity:
- Suitable footwear (walking shoes or boots, waterproof in case of rain)
- Suitable clothing (trousers or hiking shorts)
- Wide-brimmed hat, cap or beanie
- Hiking socks
- Suitably sized rucksack (10 to 30 litres)
- Sticks
- Front and hand torch (for night-time activities)
- Gloves and/or scarf
- Windbreaker and/or waterproof / poncho
- Socks (in case of rain and/or mud)
Without wishing to advertise any speciality shops, today there are many, some of which are well known, where you can find all the equipment and accessories to suit every hiker's taste and profile in one place. Do some research and be surprised by what you can find.
- First-aid equipment, a (small) knife or alternatively a Swiss Army knife, a torch, a whistle, a compass, a GPS device or other equipment that allows you to better orientate yourself in the field, a lighter and a towel.
- Sunglasses will help protect your eyes from direct sunlight and wind. You should also consider using a good sun cream and lip balm.
As for food, you should take food and water with you according to your needs, depending on the length of the walk and the route in question. But our advice is to take at least 1.5 litres of water (3 litres on longer walks), in a canteen or thermos. Food should be light but energising, such as sandwiches, dry cakes, seasonal fruit, nuts, cereal bars and so on.
