Event Description
This proposed activity will take us to see a large part of Lisbon's Green Corridor, which runs from Av. da Liberdade to Monsanto Forest Park, a 14-kilometre stretch that takes us from the top of Parque Eduardo VII to the heart of Monsanto, with many points of interest.
MONSANTO GREEN CORRIDOR
The ‘Monsanto Green Corridor’, the first studies of which began in 1977, is one of the most notable achievements of landscape architect Professor Gonçalo Ribeiro Telles, who formalised the concept of a Green Corridor, integrated into the city's ecological structure, which “connects” the city to the Monsanto Forest Park.
It is a concept of a continuous natural structure, made up of a coordinated set of green spaces that aim to contribute to bringing natural space into the city in a continuous way.
This link between Eduardo VII Park and Monsanto Forest Park is around 2.5 kilometres long and covers a total area of 51 hectares. Today, it is finally possible to travel this length on foot and by bicycle, with a cycle path from Jardim Amália to Monsanto Forest Park. In Monsanto Forest Park, with an area of 900ha, you can enjoy a network of mixed walking and cycling routes of around 40km.
Some of the points of interest on the walk
- Monument to the 25th of April - Eduardo VII Park - Amália Rodrigues Garden - Cycle Bridge - Amnesty International Gardens - Campolide Gardens Horticultural Park - Calhau Park - São Domingos de Benfica Forest - Monsanto Viewpoints - Serafina Recreational Park - Natural landscapes -
