In this proposed event, we'll go on a hike that will give us great moments, whether it's reaching the top of Monte Serves, with its geodesic landmark at 357 metres above sea level (with a 360º view from Montejunto to Sintra, passing through the Serra da Arrábida and Socorro), or because we'll get to know the Aguieira Fort, part of Torres Vedras' 2nd defensive line, and the Monte Serves Dolmen.  Another event not to be missed!

Mount Serves Dolmen

A short corridor dolmen, presumably with a false dome, whose excavation was directed by C. T. North and M. Leitão, on 30 September and 1 October 1972.

Aguieira Fort

This fort had a garrison of 150 soldiers and was not equipped with fire hydrants, a rare situation in the forts of the Lines. It belonged to the Second Line of Torres Vedras, closing the left flank of the Vialonga defence position, which was linked to the beginning of the line, by the river Tagus, at Forte da Casa (no. 38). It is located at the top of the Aguieira mountain range, which overlooks the Bucelas gorge. Not equipped with any pieces, it was intended for barbed rifle fire to cover the forts of Portela Pequeno (no. 42) and Portela Grande (no. 41), and to hit the front of the mountain, where the roads from São Tiago dos Velhos and Alverca to Casal da Portela follow.
