1st November (Thursday)

Hiking - Monchique to Caldas via Picota - 12 Kms (Level 3+)

This route runs from Monchique to Caldas de Monchique, passing the beautiful Miradouro da Picota, with one of the best views of Portimão's coastline.

Picota, with its 774 metres of altitude, is the second highest point in the Serra de Monchique and stands out for the breathtaking panoramic views it has to offer. Although the views are more rugged than in other places, according to some experts, they are probably even better than those of the Fóia Viewpoint. It is also a place where you can enjoy the best that the region's fauna and flora have to offer.

The Caldas de Monchique, The thermal baths, which are one of the region's main attractions, are just 5 km from the town centre. They are a thermal spa resort known for the therapeutic and healing properties of its waters. Famous since Roman times, when they were called miraculous, the eight springs now flow with crystal-clear waters, with temperatures between 27ºC and 31.5ºC. Very rich in bicarbonate, fluoride, silica and sodium, they are indicated for the treatment of complications in the digestive and respiratory systems, as well as muscular and rheumatic problems

Lunch will be in the form of a picnic, which is the responsibility of each participant
