Event Description
This is a unique opportunity to explore the rich religious and cultural history of Arrábida, combined with the natural beauty of the mountains. Ideal for those who want to learn more about two of the historic convents and at the same time enjoy a walk in the open air, surrounded by the calm and nature of the region.
The Convents of Alferrara, Convento de São Paulo and Convento dos Capuchos are only 300 metres apart, but they are leagues apart in terms of architecture, iconography and symbolism. They are places steeped in centuries of history and spirituality and drink in the beauty of the nature that embraces them.
The small Convent of São Paulo was first occupied in 1385. The first phase of construction of the Capuchos Convent was completed in 1578. These places are steeped in centuries of history and spirituality and drink in the beauty of the nature that embraces them.
After a guided tour of the convents, we set off on a circular walk of approximately 7 kilometres, exploring trails with breathtaking views of the mountains and the sea, towards the simple Chapel of São Luís. A place of peace and devotion, where the serenity of the landscape complements the spiritual atmosphere. A unique route for those looking to immerse themselves in the history, culture and natural beauty of the Arrábida region. An event not to be missed!
Note: Visits to the Convents are free. Only the cost of the walk is payable
