Event Description
In this activity proposal, we'll walk the Way from Santiago de Compostela to Finisterre (or Fisterre), the place where the Romans thought the earth ended! On this 7-day, 90-kilometre journey, we'll visit some fantastic places such as Muxia, the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Barca, beautiful bays and beaches and the magnificent Ézaro Waterfall. We'll also have time to appreciate various points of interest in the towns where you'll finish each of the 5 stages and get to know some of the emblematic points of the Costa da Morte. Come along with us!
The Way of St James
Among Christians, pilgrimages date back to the Old Testament, beginning with the exodus of the chosen people to the Promised Land. Jesus Christ also went on pilgrimage to Jerusalem, but while Jerusalem and Rome were the great centres for the spread of Christianity, Santiago de Compostela had the privilege of being, throughout the second millennium, the great confluence of the European road network through which the preaching of the Gospel flowed.
The Way of St James is therefore a common denominator of European culture and these routes, which are public spaces of convergence and harmony, should be respected and promoted. On them, every walker feels like a citizen of the world, which gives them the opportunity to view their convictions in a universal sense of openness and tolerance. The Way of St James is an ancient route followed by millions of pilgrims since the beginning of the 9th century, when the tomb of the Apostle St James the Greater was discovered. Since then, people from the most diverse backgrounds have travelled the paths that lead to the Cathedral where the relics of the Holy Apostle are venerated, giving rise to a phenomenon that continues and grows stronger every day.

Cape Finisterre
The Romans thought that this was the westernmost point of the earth and therefore this was where the world ended. It was the "finis terrae". Why would anyone come to the end of the world?
Perhaps because Cape Finisterre hides the true secret of Coast of DeathThe main attraction of all time: rugged landscapes and impressive beaches, some with calm waters and others with strong waves. And the great attraction of all time: the sunset over the immensity of the ocean, the sea at the end of the world.
Cape Finisterre Lighthouse
Built in 1853, 138 metres above sea level, it is considered to be the cape at the end of the world (Finis Terrae). For thousands of years it was thought that beyond this point there was only a watery sea where the sun went out every night and through which one reached a region of darkness, populated by sea monsters.
It is a lighthouse made up of an octagonal tower, the lighthouse keeper's house and a square in honour of General San Martín, which is called Plaza de la República Argentina.
It is said that on clear days you can see the border with Portugal. It is known by all the world's navigators for its importance as a means of warning of the proximity of a very dangerous coastline (its light reaches up to 65 kilometres in length), as well as for the reputation of this maritime area as being treacherous.

- Stage from Santiago to Negreira (21 kms)
- Passing Ponte Maceira (one of the most beautiful villages in all of Spain)
- River Tambre and Water Mills
The highlight of this stage is Ponte Maceira, a picturesque town crossed by the River Tambre, one of the largest in Galicia. In addition to the historical bridge This is a magical place, possibly the most beautiful in the whole Camino. This is undoubtedly a magical place, possibly the most beautiful on the entire Camino.
27th April
- Stage from Negreira to Santa Marina (21 kms)
- Negreira (medieval fortress Pazo de Cóton, the Chapel of San Mauro and the Church of San Xulián)
On this stage we'll spend the night in Muxia and get to know one of the most beautiful spots on the entire Costa da Morte
28 April
- Stage from Santa Marina to Hospital (18 kms)
- Monte Are and views over the Fervenza Dam and the Xallas River Valley
- Visit to Muxia (Miradouro do Corpino, Lighthouse, Virgem da Barca Sanctuary, Pedra de Cadriz, de Abalar, a Ferida, Praia de Espineirido, Walkways, etc.)
On this stage we'll spend the night in Muxia and get to know one of the most beautiful spots on the entire Costa da Morte
29 April
- Stage from Hospital to Corcubión (16 kms)
- First sighting of Cape Finisterre (Cruzeiro da Armada)
- Church of Santa Maria de Xunqueira and Praia da Concha
- In Corcubión (Romanesque Church of San Pedro, Palace of the Counts of Traba and Altamira, Casa Miñones and Cardenal Castle)
At this stage we begin to see the end of our journey, with Cape Finisterre as our destination, where we will arrive the following day.
30th April
- Stage from Corcubión to the Finisterre Lighthouse (14 kms)
- Sardiñeiro Beach, Langosteira Beach, Monument to the Pilgrims of the Way, Viewpoint and Lighthouse
- Tour of Finisterre
And that concludes our journey with the arrival of the lighthouse at Cape Finisterre.
