EVENT DESCRIPTION: “Walking in Morocco: from Marrakech to the Desert“

In this activity proposal, we'll go for a walk and enjoy a unique experience in Morocco. From the chance to get to know the reality of the imperial city of Marrakech, through some of Morocco's most fantastic landscapes (Erg Chebbi Dunes, Todra Gorge or Ait Benhaddou, the Unesco World Heritage fortified city) and with two nights in the Desert (one of them in a Luxury Tent) this is sure to be a trip that will mark you out for the excellence of the itinerary drawn up for this trip. These will be some of the most important places on our itinerary: 

• Guided tour of Marrakech with an official guide (markets and old town). Time to explore the Medina and the electrifying Jemaa el Fnaa Square.
• A walk in the marvellous Erg Chebbi Dunes (Sahara Desert) after crossing the Atlas Mountains
• Guided tour of the UNESCO World Heritage fortified city of Ait Benhaddou
• Pass by the Hassilabled Oasis and Gnawa show in Khamlia
• Tour of Rissani Market, the town of Alnif, Agdz (in the Draa Valley), and the Kasbah of Taourirt (external visit)
• Tour of Ouarzazate (site of the Atlas Studios, where many famous films were shot)
• Morning walk to the waterfalls with a local guide
• Camel ride in the desert
• Options: Cookery workshop (optional) - 15€ and Desert experience in a 4×4 vehicle - 20€ per person
• Natural landscapes

TIME: Departure from Lisbon at 9.15am
RETURN: Arrival in Lisbon at 6.30 p.m.

Marrakech

Between tradition and modernity, Marrakech promises incomparable sensations. Strolling through Jemaa El-Fna square and the souks with their shimmering colours and oriental scents, the red city answers your desire for a change of scenery at the snap of a finger. Horse-drawn carriage rides, sunny terraces, travelling artists and other daytime and evening activities will punctuate your stay in Morocco. You can admire all the architectural richness of the Medina by visiting one of its many riads, small oriental palaces organised around a central courtyard, or you can recharge your batteries in the Menara, a vast garden with a basin that is emblematic of the city. Marrakech leaves the choice up to its visitors, taking advantage of its incredible diversity.

Unforgettable experience in the desert

We will stay for two nights in the desert area, one of them in a luxury tent, which will allow us to enjoy something truly magical, to feel the immensity of the vast desert dune system.

Todra Gorges

It's one of Morocco's most impressive natural sites: the Todra Gorges (Le Gorges du Todra or Todra Gorges) are a gorge, through which a stream passes, flanked by limestone cliffs or ledges that leave you open-mouthed at the almost 300 metres high! Located in the eastern part of the High Atlas Mountains, these rock formations were sculpted by the Todra River. The highest rocks in this gorge are about 15 kilometres from Tinghir, a town in the centre of an authentic oasis.

The Dunes of Erg Chebbi

In Mergouza, in the far south-west of Morocco, you'll find one of the most impressive sights of this trip: the Erg Chebbi Dunes, with peaks that reach 150 metres high and a length of around 22 kilometres, this sea of golden sand is absolutely magnificent!
