Grenada
The city of Granada is one of the most visited destinations in all of Spain thanks not only to the Alhambra Palace, but also to its museums, monuments, gastronomy and its close relationship with flamenco and its Arab legacy, which remains very much alive in all parts of the city. In addition to its undeniable heritage attractions, Granada offers a variety of landscapes: city, mountains and snow. In a single day you can go skiing in the Sierra Nevada at an altitude of 3,000 metres, hike in the mountains and stroll through the most famous Granada neighbourhoods such as Albaicín and Sacromonte.
The Alhambra Palace
The Alhambra is a reddish palace complex that stands on La Sabika Hill, surrounded by mountains and forest and flanked by the River Darro. The complex is so large and well protected that it is considered a citadel. The complex has undergone several extensions, but its first part was built by the first ruler of the Nacerid Kingdom of Granada, Mohammed I and his successors, between 1248 and 1354. The site is one of the greatest examples of Muslim architecture in Europe and was the largest political and aristocratic centre in the Muslim West.
Sierra Nevada
The Sierra Nevada ski resort is located in the south of Spain and is known for being an après-ski mecca! It is the southernmost winter sports resort in Europe and the highest on the Iberian Peninsula. Here we'll have the chance to take a cable car up to 2700 metres above sea level and enjoy the snow!
Cordoba
Along with Seville and Granada, Córdoba is one of the most visited cities in Andalusia. This is due to the hundreds of iconic monuments that have earned it Unesco World Heritage status, such as the Mosque-Cathedral, the Alcázar of the Christian Kings, the Synagogue, the Roman Bridge, the Arab Baths, the Roman Temple, the walls, among other places of great interest. But the most exciting thing about visiting Córdoba is the unique atmosphere of its medieval neighbourhoods, the famous flowered Cordoban patios, the walks along the banks of the Guadalquivir, the plazas full of life, colourful festivals and lively taverns where you can watch a good flamenco show or taste the typical cuisine (where they shine). salmorejo, Flemish or log tail).
Guadix
Guadix has around 20,000 inhabitants and is located 55 km from Granada, at the foot of the Sierra Nevada at an altitude of 950 metres. Guadix is one of the oldest human settlements on the Iberian Peninsula. In Roman times it was known as Julia Gemella Acci and during Arab domination it was called Wadi Ash, from which its current name is derived. Guadix is considered the "European Capital of Caves" with more than 2,000 inhabited spaces.
Among the most important monuments is the Cathedral, built in the Gothic-Renaissance style from 1510 on the site of the main mosque. The church, completed in the 18th century, has a Baroque façade and the tower dates from the 17th century. In the sacristy there is an interesting museum with Baroque paintings, manuscripts and jewellery. The Plaza de la Constitución represents the historic and artistic centre of the city with buildings from the 16th and 17th centuries.
The Alcazaba, the Moorish fortress built in the 10th and 11th centuries, dominates the city and from its towers you can enjoy excellent views of the city and the troglodyte district. Also interesting is the 16th century Church of Santiago in the Gothic-Mudejar style with a rich Plateresque portal. Finally, the most famous attraction is the troglodyte neighbourhood with its houses dug into the clay soil. Other buildings in Guadix include the 17th century Convento de la Concepción, the Church of San Miguel, the Convento de Santo Domingo, the 16th century Puerta de San Torcuato and the 16th century Renaissance palaces Palacio de Peñaflor and Palacio de Villalegre.
