In this activity proposal we'll visit some of Poland's most emblematic sites: Warsaw, Krakow, the Auschwitz concentration camp, the famous Salt Mine and walk the most beautiful hiking trail in the Tatra Mountains, on the border with Slovakia. An unforgettable journey for many reasons. We'll have time to get to know each of the sites, often through a guided tour, and we'll also be able to enjoy the most interesting neighbourhoods, streets and terraces in each place. Come with us!

Top attractions of our trip to Poland

Warsaw's Old Town

The Old Town is a vibrant and bustling area, perfect for walking, full of galleries, cafés and restaurants. It covers a large block of streets including Castle Square with the Royal Castle, the Old Town Market Square with the popular Mermaid statue and the famous defensive walls and turrets. In the 13th century, a ducal fortress and a walled settlement were established here and the charming layout of narrow streets from that time has been preserved to this day. During the Second World War, the Old Town was almost completely destroyed, but thanks to careful reconstruction, it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1980.

The Palace of Culture and Science

The controversial building, erected in the 1950s as a “gift from the Soviet people to the Polish people”, remains the tallest building in Poland. From the observation deck on the 30th floor of the Palace of Culture and Science, located 114 metres up, visitors can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire city. Two high-speed lifts take visitors to the top. Inside the Palace are theatres, museums, the headquarters of important institutions, a cinema, a swimming pool and the famous Congress Hall, which hosts performances by internationally renowned music stars, as well as conferences and congresses.

Wawel in Krakow

When visiting the riverside town, it's impossible not to notice the Royal Castle on Wawel Hill. The castle's arcaded courtyard - a jewel of Renaissance architecture - is truly awe-inspiring, as is the Gothic Wawel Cathedral, final resting place of countless Polish kings and other notable figures. From the roofs housing the famous Sigismund's Bell, which is said to fulfil wishes, to the interior adorned with sarcophagi sculpted by Veit Stoss and stained glass windows by Józef Mehoffer, to the underground crypts where figures such as Tadeusz Kościuszko, Stephen Bátory, Jan III Sobieski and Lech Kaczyński are buried - this basilica alone is reason enough to visit Krakow.

Krakow's Old Town

The heart of Krakow is the Main Market Square - the largest medieval square in Europe, preserved in its original form since the 13th century. The city's musical tradition continues in a unique way: for six hundred years, every hour a trumpet blast known as hejnał has resounded from the tower of St Mary's Basilica, echoing in four directions. In the centre of the square is the Fabric Market (Sukiennice), a medieval market and one of Poland's most recognisable landmarks. A perfect way to end a tour of the Old Town is to visit St Mary's Basilica, where you can admire the beautiful altar carved by Veit Stoss.

Kazimierz district in Krakow

This is a neighbourhood in Krakow that remained an independent city until the 19th century. It has preserved its unique character to this day, enchanting visitors with its incredible atmosphere, well-preserved monuments and vibrant Jewish culture. Galleries and antique shops, cobbled streets and the klezmer music that echoes through the open windows create a truly magical experience when strolling through Kazimierz. Thanks to the scale and care with which the restoration of the neighbourhood has been carried out, it seems that Kazimierz is living its “golden age” now - even more so than in the days of King Casimir the Great.

Oświęcim

The Auschwitz concentration camp (1940-1945) was one of the four Nazi concentration camps established on occupied Polish territory. It was the largest camp, a place of gradual extermination of prisoners and, at the same time, the largest centre where the immediate and direct extermination of Jews took place. Auschwitz became a worldwide symbol of terror, genocide and the Holocaust. In less than five years of existence, between 1 and 1.5 million people lost their lives at Auschwitz.

Ojców National Park

This park is home to a remarkable combination of historical and natural wonders. Among the natural highlights is the rock called the Clava of Hercules, made of hard limestone. Right next to it stands the only castle in the Jura region to have survived the floods - Pieskowa Skała, with a Mannerist garden and an impressive courtyard. Walking through the Ciasne Skałki Gorge you can see the Krakow Gate, which, were it not for the wooden pillars, would probably have collapsed a long time ago. You can also explore the ruins of Ojców Castle - a fortress built in the 14th century by order of King Casimir the Great.

Wieliczka

This small town near Krakow is famous for its salt mine. It is a world-renowned monument, visited by over a million tourists every year and was one of the first sites in the world to be inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Wieliczka Salt Mine is the fruit of the labour of several generations of miners and a historical monument of the Polish nation. The wealth of beautiful Krakow was largely built on the extraction of salt.

Zakopane

Poland's winter capital also has a lot to offer in summer. Situated at the foot of the famous Giewont mountain, it still captivates visitors with the unique atmosphere of an old mountain resort. The best place to get acclimatised to the local climate is Krupówki - the town's main promenade and its main attraction. Nearby is Zakopane's oldest wooden church and the Cemetery of the Illustrious in Pęksowy Brzyzek, both beautiful examples of Zakopane's history.

Hiking in the Tatras Mountains

Lake Morskie Oko is incredible, surrounded on three sides by imposing granite walls and jagged peaks. The Kościeliska Valley - considered the most beautiful of the Tatras - is especially impressive in spring. A very pleasant walking route along the valley leads to the Ornak mountain refuge. For more adventurous groups, we can take the route of the Valley of the Five Polish Lakes: Hala, Gąsienicowa, Czarny, Staw and Gąsienicowy, or even the opportunity to explore caves.
