Arouca Suspension Bridge

The 516 Arouca Bridge is the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the world and is located in Arouca, in the Aveiro district. With a length of 516 metres and an elevation of 175 metres, it connects the banks of the River Paiva. As you walk across the bridge, you'll have a breathtaking view of the Paiva Gorge and the Aguieiras Waterfall, both UNESCO geosites in the Arouca Geopark.

Levada de Santa Cruz and Poço do Pisão

Next to the Engenheiro Duarte Pacheco Dam, the Caima River offers us a surprise of incomparable beauty: on the left bank of the reservoir, a small levada winds its way through the leafy forests, winding its way to keep up with the gradient adjusted to the constant flow of water. The levada, just over a kilometre long, serves the Santa Cruz irrigation system and originates from a small tributary of the Caima river that flows into the Pisão well. Various ferns take advantage of the unexpected humidity provided by the levada to grow and thrive
