Walking in Lagoa da Barrinha and Praia de Mira

The route starts at Barrinha, next to Praia de Mira, and in an easy walk you'll find various points of interest with fantastic views over both Barrinha and Praia de Mira, where the element of water is always present. From the "Palheiros" (haystacks) to the typical boats, this short route will delight all those who appreciate this type of landscape and will provide plenty of reasons for some beautiful photographs.

Fermentelos Pateira Route“ Walk”

Known as Pateira de Fermentelos, this is the largest natural lagoon on the Iberian Peninsula. It is a sensitive area and an important NATURA 2000 wetland. It contains habitats, ecosystems and species with national and international protection status. It is in the lagoon that the visitor encounters the natural space and its biophysical components, and it is here that the desire to visit arises. The Pateira is one of Europe's richest ecosystems, with a wide variety of fish and birds, some of them permanent, others seasonal, which see this lagoon as one of their last refuges in a Europe where large habitats are reminders of a distant past. It is against this idyllic backdrop, painted in watercolours, where the sky is reflected in the calm waters of the lagoon and where the sun brushes the horizon in shades of red, that we will walk and enjoy all the surrounding beauty.
