This walk starts at the car park near the Kaldeirão Restaurant in São Pedro de Sintra. This route will take you through countless places in the town of Sintra, up and down, where we'll pass the Chapel of Santa Eufémia and the viewpoint with fantastic views over the Palace of Pena and the surrounding area all the way to the sea! Santa Eufémia Viewpoint

Located in Santa Eufémia da Serra, at an altitude of around 470 metres, it offers one of the most beautiful views over the municipality of Sintra, from Queluz to the ocean. According to Crusader chronicles dating back to 1147, the water from the Santa Eufémia spring had healing powers, which is why the Santa Eufémia chapel was built in the 13th century and became a place of pilgrimage and devotion. There is also a leisure area with a picnic area that offers cool shade for the hottest days.

Friendship Farm

Carlos Sassetti, a native of Sintra and deeply enamoured of the town and its mountains, explored the ambience of this local paradise to the full. Sassetti's attitude was reflected above all in the plans that governed the execution of the house surrounded by the exotic park of Quinta da Amizade, which he had built in the first half of the 19th century as a guest house on the sunny slopes of the Castle and overlooking the town. Set on the slopes of the Moorish Castle in the Serra de Sintra, it is surrounded by a walled garden and woodland with a pedestrian entrance through an iron gate on the Calçada das Merendas to the north and another gate with access for vehicles to the west at different altimetres. It has a garden with camellia trees, centurions, giant magnolias and a wide variety of orange, palm, lemon and old Lebanese cedar trees. Several fountains and boxwood beds decorate the garden.
