EVENT: Walking on the Caminito del Rey, Ronda, Setenil de Las Bodegas, Seville and Antequera

EVENT DESCRIPTION: "Walking the Caminito del Rey, El Torcal Natural Park, Ronda, Setenil de Las Bodegas, Seville and Antequera"

In this activity proposal, we'll walk and visit some of the most fabulous places in Andalusia, including the famous Caminito del Rey. We'll also have time to walk in the fabulous El Torcal Natural Park, near Antequera. We'll also take a panoramic tour of Seville, as well as visiting Ronda, another of the region's ex-libris. There's also time to visit Setenil de Las Bodegas, another must-see on the Pueblos Blancos Route, and finally a stop at the famous Roman Ruins of Itálica and its magnificent Roman amphitheatre, the setting for the filming of "Game of Thrones". It will be a long weekend full of strong emotions and landscapes to remember for a long time. Come with us!

Caminito del Rey

The path is a seven-kilometre, almost aerial, vertiginous passage created by man in the walls of the Chorro and Gaitanejo gorges, north of Málaga. It was built in 1905 because the workers at a hydroelectric power station needed a way through, and it was as archaic as its use, done by rote - until a king had to cross it to inaugurate the dam, and so it got its name. Over the years, it was abandoned, collapsing or partially slipping at some points and became a danger, even being closed after the death of four tourists between 1999 and 2000.

Its total length is 7.7 kilometres, of which three kilometres are on footbridges and five on trails. It takes three to four hours to walk the entire length and is considered to be of medium difficulty, with the caveat that due to its characteristics it still involves some danger and should be done by people with the ability to do so. Not least because, even before you start, there's a good walk to get there, and it's uphill. For example, children under the age of eight are not allowed.

Seville

Seville is one of the most historic cities in the world. It was here that many of the greatest Spanish navigators (and other Portuguese navigators, but at the service of the Spanish royalty), such as Christopher Columbus and Ferdinand Magellan, left to discover the New World.

Plaza de España, whose crescent shape is travelled by beautiful carriages. Most of the buildings were constructed for the Ibero-American Exhibition of 1929. To the south of the Plaza de España is the verdant María Luisa Park, a vast green space full of criss-crossing paths, birds swimming in the lakes and palaces hidden behind the foliage of the trees. We can also take a stroll along the bank of the Guadalquivir river to see the watchtower over the river - the Torre del Oro (Tower of Gold), built by the Moors and later used as a prison and warehouse for the treasures brought back from the Americas.

Antequera

Antequera is a city of great cultural and economic wealth. Its historical complex is made up of more than fifty monuments and buildings dating back to the Bronze Age, such as the Cueva de Menga dolmen, the Dólmen de Viera and the Romeral dolmen. Crowned by the castle and the basilica of Santa Maria, throughout its old town there are collegiate churches, convents, palaces, arches, gates, hermitages, stately homes and a citadel. Amongst all this is the palace of Nájera (18th century), which is now the Municipal Museum; the convent of Catalinas or the palace of the Marquises de la Peña, in Mudejar and Renaissance style. El Torcal de Antequera Natural Park

El Torcal de Antequera is a nature reserve in the Sierra del Torcal located to the south of the town of Antequera, in the province of Málaga. It is known for its unusual landforms and is one of the most impressive karst landscapes in the whole of Europe. It has several beautiful hiking trails, which we will of course follow.

Ronda

In the heart of Andalusia there is a pearl hidden in a sea of limestone landscapes. It's called Ronda. Almost hanging from a rocky promontory, the city is separated into two parts by the "Cannon of El Tajo", a limestone gorge where the river Guadalevín flows through, the old part and the new part. In the old part, it's worth wandering around a few streets, where you'll find the Mondragón Palace, the Palace of the Marquis of Salvatierra, the home of the Moorish King (Casa del Rey Moro or the parish church. In the modern part, the Parador Nacional de Ronda viewpoint stands out, as does the Alameda del Tajo park, both with breathtaking views.

Setenil de Las Bodegas

Setenil de las Bodegas is one of the most incredible places in Andalusia. The village was built in the middle of and under a huge rock. It is one of the most beautiful towns in Spain and tops the list of the best undiscovered destinations in Europe, according to the website European Best Destinations and is part of the Route of the White Villages. The village's main attraction is the beauty and originality of the urban layout, which descends from the castle and adapts to the course of the river. People settled under the rocks to escape the heat of summer and the harsh cold of winter, as it is naturally protected by the rock. The houses that have been built over time are painted white and some streets have a stone in place of the sky. The two busiest streets in the town are Cuevas del Sol, so called because it faces south and receives a lot of light, and Shadow CavesThe castle is entirely covered by the presence of the stone suspended between the two rows of whitewashed buildings that flank it. The castle, located in the upper part of the city, was built between the 14th and 15th centuries and has been listed as a Spanish Historical Heritage Site since 1985.

Roman Ruins of Italica

The city of Italica was the first Roman city founded on the Iberian Peninsula and also outside Italian territory. It was home to two great emperors, Trajan and Hadrian, and many important senators. In fact, it was during Hadrian's rule that Italica experienced its greatest splendour and development. With a capacity for 25,000 people, the Itálica amphitheatre was one of the largest in the Roman world, second only to the Colosseum in Rome and the Capua amphitheatre, also in Italy. At 160 metres long and 137 metres wide, it was huge for the city, which had no more than 8,000 inhabitants. Nowadays, Italian has served as the setting for several series and films, the most important of which is Game of Thrones. In the famous series, the ruins of the amphitheatre are the Dragonpit.
