Event Description

This walk takes us through a very beautiful area of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, between the Rio da Mula Dam and Quinta do Pisão, and past the Pedra Amarela slope, with unobstructed views of the coastline. We'll use various trails and green paths, among scenery of great and authentic mountain beauty, to then reach our starting point. Another event not to be missed!

Rio da Mula Dam:

The Rio da Mula Dam is located in the Serra de Sintra in the municipality of Cascais, to the east of what was then known as Costa Queimada, to the west and south of Tapada do Saldanha and to the north of Quinta do Pisão. The dam's reservoir divides the municipalities of Sintra and Cascais. The Rio da Mula Dam is bathed by the Mula stream that gives it its name and has its source near Casal dos Porqueiros and Matos Piedade near Tapada do Saldanha. It is 27 kilometres long and in Cascais, under the name of Ribeira das Vinhas, it flows into Praia da Ribeira. The dam as we know it today began to be built according to a 1963 project and was completed in 1969.
