This Walking Tour by Caminhando will take you along a route of rare beauty, between ancient trails travelled by millers and shepherds, who over the years have cleared and built the entire network of loose and stacked stone walls that divide the fields and pastures. Highlights include the Alvados Coast, the Alvados Valley and its Polje, the Serra Galega, Aire and Candeeiros and the 170-million-year-old Jurassic Beach of São Bento. There will be 14 kilometres on this circular route of rare beauty, between ancient trails trodden by millers and shepherds, who over the years have cleared and built up the magnificent landscape, namely all the loose, stacked stone walls that divide the fields and pastures.

Starting next to the Church of Chão das Pias, we'll climb up through oak and pine trees and fields of lapiaz, to a cluster of mills, old guardians of the landscape of other times, from where we'll have a magnificent view of the Pevide mountain range and the route of the old Lena Mining Trail.

We'll then continue through farmland and small footpaths, flanked by aromatic plants with the scent of rosemary and thyme, over fields of lapiaz, to the coast of Alcaria, which we'll circle at its highest point with its majestic view of Lapa da Mouração, to the Fornea de Alcaria, an impressive natural monument, which we'll also circle at its highest point, then cross farm tracks that flank pastures divided by the impressive Dry Stone Walls that are one of Portugal's natural wonders.

We will then arrive at the impressive Alvados slope, which we will follow along impressive trails, always from above, along the so-called Alvados Coast, with its vertiginous views over the Alvados Valley and its Polje, the Serra Galega and the entire Serra de Aire e Candeeiros massif.

 We will then return to more paths flanked by the aforementioned Muros de Pedra Seca (Dry Stone Walls), which will take us to the Jurassic Beach of São Bento, where immense Jurassic fossils of considerable size were discovered in an old abandoned quarry, and which in the future will give way to an interpretation centre on this subject, from where we will return to the starting point.
