Event Description

In this activity proposal, we'll walk in the north of the Alentejo, following two of its best pedestrian routes, highlighting trails of enormous beauty, fantastic panoramas of the Tagus, viewpoints and suspension bridges. There will also be time for a visit to Nisa (historic centre) and the possibility of a boat trip or a dip in the river. We'll also take a tour of the urban art of the famous Alpalhão stone, with a circuit of the main monuments created there. We'll stay at the Monte Filipe Hotel & Spa, where we'll be able to enjoy various services such as a swimming pool, jacuzzi, etc. This weekend we will of course have the opportunity to try the best flavours of the local cuisine. Come and join us!

Conhal Mine Trail

The Romans discovered that the natives were already exploiting gold, silver, copper and iron. With the advent of the Empire, the mines passed into the public domain, to companies and to private individuals. Conhal do Arneiro represents one of these industrial areas, the "Arrugiae", the Roman name for an open-cast mine, with the use of hydraulic energy. This is one of the largest areas in Portugal and may have been contemporary with the Médulas in Spain. Castelejo may have been a place for monitoring mining operations and river traffic. A walk that will certainly stay in the heart, soul and mind of any nature lover.

Tagus Cliff Walk

Arribas do Tejo" is a walking route along the cliffs of the River Tagus, involving the parishes of Belver and Gavião, with two river crossings: one at the Belver dam and the other at the century-old iron bridge on the EN244. The route starts at Largo Luís de Camões in Belver, heading towards the dam on the north bank of the Tagus. Along the way, you'll see the Fraga olive press, olive groves and old farmland, the Penedo Gordo dolmen (which confirms that the region was settled around 5,000 years ago), the Ortiga river beach (in the municipality of Mação), the Alamal river beach, the Belver dam and Fonte Velha. It's a circular route that takes us to places of undeniable scenic, geological and cultural value. We'll also have the opportunity to walk along the fantastic, refurbished Alamal Walkways.
